My name is Kim Hoogenboom.  I am a senior at Pennsylvania State University, majoring in both Risk Management's Actuarial Science option through the Smeal College of Business and Mathematics' Systems Analysis option through the Eberly College of Science, as well as, minoring in Statistics.  Upon graduation in May 2018, I will be working as an Actuarial Assistant for Guardian Life Insurance in Bethlehem, PA.  I am a former Penn State Lehigh Valley student, and current University Park student.  I exemplify my motivation through my hard work ethics and involvement at school.  Through my four semesters at Penn State Lehigh Valley, I took about 20 credits a semester.  I was recognized as a junior by the end of my third semester with Academic Achievement for High Cumulative Average within the College of Business.  In spring 2016, I presented research on Development Dyscalculia from Childhood to Adulthood (which won first place in the Local Undergraduate Research Symposium and second place in the Regional Undergraduate Research Symposium).  I am continuing research on the effects of Dyscalculia as a Data Analyst intern for Dyscalculia.org. At Penn State Lehigh Valley, I was an active member of several organizations such as Math Club, Student Government Association, Nittany News, State of the Valley, Penn State Lion Ambassadors, International Club, Business Society and THON.  I founded PSULV's Math Club, was one of seven selected students of PSULV's Student Activity Fee Allocation Committee, and was a New Student Orientation Leader during the summers.  Between classes at University Park, I have loads of fun tutoring math courses in Penn State's Learning Center, executing Calculus guided study group sessions, and mentoring actuarial students as Commonwealth Liaison. I obligate the rest of my time to rewatching cult films and win/lose streaks on League of Legends. Catch me on the field of justice...or after class!
